Bush’s Stem Cell Ban Overturned

March 9th, 2009 · No Comments · Health News

stem-cellsAt last, embryonic stem cell research will now get federal funding thanks to President Obama’s reversal of Bush’s ridiculous ban. This has put embryonic stem cell research back 5 years – and we are talking here about cures for various cancers and heart disease. Bush has definitely cost lives, many lives.

The correct course was, if he was concerned about stem cell ethics, to permit federal funding, but set parameters. That is what is going to happen now – five years later. Basically, Bush gave in to the Christian lobby. Even now, the Pope opposes Obama’s decision.

Anyway, the research can now proceed, accelerated by the US’s involvement.

UK Stem Cell Lead

The UK are currently at the forefront of stem cell research but this won’t last long with America in the game.

We will see fantastic healthy treatment gains – for cancer, heart disease, and perhaps Alzheimer’s – in 10-20 years thanks to the advances made possible by embryonic stem cell research. Already a US firm has started searching for human candidates for the first trial of stem cell therapy for those paralysed by severe spinal injury – made possible by embryonic stem cell research.
