Treating arthritis is a “long and difficult path”, according to researchers at Cardiff University, Wales. They think they are seeing a glimmer of light in identifying frankincense extract to help treat arthritic conditions.

The mechanism is that the form of frankincense – the Latin name of which is Boswellia – studied reduces inflammation. It is this ability, they suggest, which helps to prevent the cartilage breakdown which hastens the development of arthritis.

So, if you have arthritis, it may make sense to check into this possible treatment using an ancient herb. Who knows,you may even become wiser the more you use it

The Better Way To Reduce Inflammation

The identification of inflammation as being a factor promoting arthritis is not a new one. there is no doubt that generalised inflammation does promote arthritis, as well as more serious diseases including cancer and heart disease.

And, there are more effective ways countering inflammation than simply taking frankincense. One of the best ways is to reduce sugar and starch in the diet. Starches include potatoes, rice, pasta and bread. When broken down in the body all these starches turn into sugar – which promotes inflammation.

So you’d actually be better off treating arthritis if you cut down on the starches and sugars you eat, rather than simply by taking frankincense.

However, mainstream medicine has not caught up with this fact yet. But, if you don’t know about this,  you can!

Many in the UK are very worried that the EU is about to punish the UK alternative health industry again – just as it has with herbal supplements.. This time the target is nutritional supplements.

On herbs, EU action has determined that companies – including small ones – will have to fork out £50,000 per product for the total costs of licensing a herbal product. This act will remove hundreds of products from the UK market in 2011. Now the EU is having a go at vitamins, minerals and similar supplements.

In the UK nutritional supplements with a fairly high potency are generally available, and are popular with consumers. Indeed, I take them myself. The pharmaceutical industry, seeing this, has pressured the legislature such that these products are going to be harder and harder to get – unless made by drug companies. Surprise, surprise.

Too many of our fundamental freedoms are being curtailed by being in the EU. I think the only answer is to get out. At least we can get action then by lobbying our own government – not having to try and influence 25 countries with a whole host of agendas.
